Exciting Summer volunteer opportunity for Students!
Ve’ahavta will be participating in the Canada Student Services Grant (CSSG) for University Students.
Under the program tuition bursaries will be issued for volunteer hours served.
Students will be able to receive the CESB in addition to the CSSG.
Available Volunteer Opportunities
Ve’ahavta is looking for an individual with a background in nutrition or culinary education to support our Meal Box program. The Meal Box program offers an internship opportunity for individuals marginalized by homelessness and poverty to learn culinary skills and lead volunteers in making meals that are distributed on our MJRH outreach van. This position would include expanding our recipe options by researching and developing recipes. This role also includes designing curriculum related to work in the culinary arts for our interns. This is a virtual volunteer opportunity that can be done from anywhere.
Ve’ahavta is looking for two individuals with an interest in supply chain management and operations to support the MJRH outreach van by managing incoming donations. Ve’ahavta accepts clothing donations which we then distribute to individuals experiencing homelessness and poverty through our outreach van. This volunteer opportunity would involve organizing donations in our sorting room, and maintaining upkeep of office space. This is an in person volunteer opportunity that would involve being on-site at our Toronto office for 3 hours a day (either morning or afternoon), 4-5 days a week. Volunteers should be able to lift at least 10lbs.
Ve’ahavta is looking to recruit a student who can research and prepare a report to answer the question “When vulnerable populations are provided access to technology, what significant effects can be measured” i.e ability to find housing, get a job, building a network/community, etc. This position would involve doing research online, and potentially connecting with some of our clients to gather information. This is a virtual volunteer opportunity that can be done from anywhere.
Ve’ahavta is looking for an individual with a background in teaching and education to help us develop online curriculum and deliver workshops to youth this summer. The volunteer would be responsible for revamping our existing workshop materials, developing new online-friendly activities, and – if interested – presenting these workshops to people of all ages. This is an excellent opportunity for someone currently enrolled in teacher’s college to gain practical experience this summer. This is a virtual volunteer opportunity that can be done from anywhere.
Ve’ahavta is looking for an individual with a background in videography and editing to help us develop marketing content, including (but not limited to): interviews with past clients, promotional material for our programs, short informational videos about Ve’ahavta’s mission and purpose, and assisting our training team with our online service delivery model. We are looking for someone skilled with both filming and editing short videos which would match our brand guidelines and style preferences, who would also be able to help educate staff members with filming material to be included in the videos. While this is a virtual volunteer opportunity, it is preferable to have someone in Toronto who would be able to occasionally come on-site to film footage as needed.
Ve’ahavta is looking for a volunteer to support us in redeveloping our website as well as contribute to our social media content. The ideal candidate has a background in WordPress (or a willingness to learn on the job) with a background in other web development as well as content creation and editing. This individual should also have interest and background in developing social media and blog content for non-profits, and would work with our marketing team on social media content both for our main accounts as well as for the MYTORONTO program. This is a virtual volunteer opportunity that can be done from anywhere.
Ve’ahavta is looking for a student with a background or interest in human resources to provide support to our People & Culture department. This role would be primarily administrative though is a great opportunity for anyone interested in what human resources looks like as part of a non-profit organization.
