JOB PURPOSE

The Social Service Program Coordinator is responsible for the planning, implementation, and coordination of the Warehouse Training Program. The role includes program coordination and logistics, warehouse management, people management, including stakeholder relations as well as training of all program participants with lived experience of poverty and homelessness.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Warehouse Training Program is a social service program that provides individuals with lived experience of poverty or homelessness with hands-on training to learn how to manage inventory in a warehouse environment. Program participants learn to take on leadership roles, working side-by-side with a team of volunteers, to receive, sort, and store items in the warehouse, including clothing, hygiene supplies, perishable and non-perishable foods. These activities support the functioning of Ve’ahavta’s Mobile Jewish Response to Homeless outreach van program, which distributes the supplies to those in need in the community. The Warehouse Training Program provides participants with a paid training opportunity for those who are interested in pursuing a career in warehouse and inventory management. Program participants are also provided with the support of a Career Counsellor and Case Manager to develop concrete goals and plans to move them towards further education and employment.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Reporting to the Manager of Program Operations, you will have the opportunity to mentor, train, and support both clients and volunteers participating in the program. You will lead the training and orientation of all our new program participants, considering their individual lived experience with poverty and homelessness. In coordinating and facilitating the training component of the program, you will support individuals in their learning goals and help them navigate the Learning Management System (LMS).

As a Social Service Program Coordinator of the Warehouse Training Program, you will also supervise the volunteers supporting the program, ensuring thorough training, onboarding, and opportunities for relationship building between participants and volunteers.

You will champion health and safety by ensuring proper guidelines are being followed by all participants. Inventory management will also be something you oversee by ensuring that sufficient inventory of supplies is maintained, and regularly communicating with suppliers. Warehouse management training will be provided to you.

At the end of our programs, you will collaborate with a Case Manager to ensure a streamlined offboarding process, and post-program support.
