Ve’ahavta’s programs seek to break down barriers, empower marginalized individuals, and inspire community engagement on issues of poverty and homelessness in Toronto.
Volunteers help sort and organize incoming donations for our Drive to Survive program. The Drive to Survive program provides supplies to the Mobile Jewish Response to Homelessness (MJRH) outreach van, which provides meals, outreach services, clothing, toiletries, and other essential supplies to those living on or near the streets in Toronto.
Supply Room Sorters work in teams of two to four people. (Consider having a friend apply for this role with you!) Supply Room Sorters determine which donations are most needed, check on the quality of donations, and maintain a clean and orderly space.
We are looking for volunteers who:
- Are available on Mondays or Fridays from 11 am to 2 pm (time is flexible within this range, the shift may end earlier depending on volume of donations each week)
- Can volunteer every week or every other week
- Can make at least a three-month commitment (minimum of eight volunteer times)
- Able to lift 10 lbs.
This role is ideal for someone looking to have a meaningful and regular volunteer commitment. Open to corporate, friends and family groups. Must complete a MJRH volunteer shift prior to beginning this role.
Contact Ruth.Hart@veahavta.org. if you are interested in this role.
