Young Rider; Mobile Jewish Response to Homelessness (MJRH)

Help distribute food, coffee, clothing, hygiene supplies, and most importantly, provide conversation and companionship to individuals experiencing homelessness. Only open to teens in the B’nai Mitzvah, Young Rider or Synagogue Partner’s programs.

Time commitment: Weekdays only, hours are flexible.

  

Supply Room Sorter

Help sort and organize incoming clothing and hygiene donations for Ve’ahavta’s Drive to Survive program. Items are distributed by the Mobile Jewish Response to Homelessness (MJRH) outreach van.

Time commitment: Weekdays, times flexible. Please specify your availability in the application. 

 

Drive to Survive

Coordinate drives for clothing, hygiene products and other supplies among your friends, family, community members or classmates for the people served by our Mobile Jewish Response to Homelessness outreach van. Visit our Drive to Survive page for more info!

Ve’ahavta Cookbook

Prepare baked goods and other treats in your home with friends and family to be distributed by the Mobile Jewish Response to Homelessness outreach van to individuals experiencing homelessness. Find recipes and more at veahavta.org/cookbook-program/.

Administration

Support the mission of Ve’ahavta by donating time to help with alpha/numeric data entry, answering phones, filing, mailing and other administrative tasks.

Events

Throughout the year Ve’ahavta has events such as the Starry Nights Gala and the Passover Seder. Volunteers support event logistics from the planning stage to implementation. Event volunteers typically help with set up, greeting guests, serving food and generally bringing the spirit of the event alive! Third Party Events

Have an idea about how you can contribute to Ve’ahavta’s mission? Cookoffs, lemonade stands, car washes, birthday parties, bat or bar mitzvahs, dance-a-thons and more are all great ways to bring you and your friends together and give back at the same time! Visit our Third Party Events page for more details.

Meal Box*

Help prepare healthy meals which are distributed by the Mobile Jewish Response to Homelessness outreach van to 70+ people each shift experiencing homelessness.

 To be considered for this role, please fill out our online application.

Time commitment: Weekday afternoons, once a week from 3pm-5pm.

*Must be at least 16 years old.
