Mobile Jewish Response to Homelessness (MJRH) Young Rider
Help distribute food, coffee, clothing, hygiene supplies, and most importantly, provide conversation and companionship to individuals experiencing homelessness. Only open to teens in the B’nai Mitzvah, TikunGen, Young Rider or Synagogue Partner’s programs. To find out more please visit veahavta.org/youth-engagement/
Time commitment: Thursday evenings or Sunday afternoons for 5-6 hours.
Young Rider Ed:
Ve’ahavta offers Young Rider Ed as a way for teens to explore Ve’ahavta’s values and goals and meet like-minded peers. Following their participation in this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to volunteer on the Mobile Jewish Response to Homelessness outreach van. They will see first-hand how the social issues they have been learning about impact vulnerable individuals in this city.
The fee for Young Rider Ed is $72 and it is next being offered on Monday January 21, 2019, 6:30-8:30pm at Ve’ahavta.

Supply Room Sorter:
Help sort and organize incoming clothing and hygiene donations for Ve’ahavta’s Drive to Survive program. Items are distributed by the Mobile Jewish Response to Homelessness (MJRH) outreach van. To be considered for the role, please fill out our online application.

Drive to Survive:
Coordinate drives for clothing, hygiene products and other supplies among your friends, family, community members or classmates for the people served by our Mobile Jewish Response to Homelessness outreach van. Prepare baked goods and other treats in your home with friends and family to be distributed by the Mobile Jewish Response to Homelessness outreach van to individuals experiencing homelessness. Find recipes and more at veahavta.org/cookbook-program/.

Support the mission of Ve’ahavta by donating time to help with alpha/numeric data entry, answering phones, filing, mailing and other administrative tasks. To apply and find out more, please fill out the online application.

Throughout the year Ve’ahavta has events such as the Starry Nights Gala and the Passover Seder. Volunteers support event logistics from the planning stage to implementation. Event volunteers typically help with set up, greeting guests, serving food and generally bringing the spirit of the event alive! Time commitment: Evenings only, hours are based on the nature of the event.
Third Party Events:
Have an idea about how you can contribute to Ve’ahavta’s mission? Cookoffs, lemonade stands, car washes, birthday parties, bat or bar mitzvahs, dance-a-thons and more are all great ways to bring you and your friends together and give back at the same time!
